My name is Priscella Rivera. I am the mother of two wonderful little boys, Shane (10/04) and Devon (03/07). Becoming a mother has opened my eyes to a new world that I never thought existed. They have brought great joy into my life. I thank them. They're the ones that brought me to this path where I am today, and filled me with the passion to do the work that I do now.
During my pregnancies I knew that I wanted support from someone that was knowledgeable of pregnancy and labor. While visiting websites I came across the word Doula. I learned that there was actually someone out there that could offer me what I wanted. Unfortunately in my area (Pocono's, Pa.), they're far and few in between. This saddened me, and I knew that I wanted to help other women get that chance they deserve, to have the birth that they envision.
I believe birth is a beautiful, wonderful, natural part of a women's life. I came across a saying, which is “We have a myth surrounding labor and birth in our society, it is not that birth is painful, but that women are strong!”
So here I am today, training through ChildBirth International to become a Certified Doula and Childbirth Educator. Everyday I learn something new and every birth I gain so much out of.

After the birth of my first child, Jessica, I became very hooked on the subject of childbirth. My labor was over 30 hours long, but the preparation my husband and I had for it, having taken Bradley Method® classes, made it a challenge that we were able to tackle together. I believe that the techniques that we learned and the confidence that we gained helped us to not only avoid many “minor” interventions like a Pitocin drip to speed up my slow labor (which wouldn't have helped anyway since the problem was not strength of contractions, but rather the position of my daughter), or an IV, but ultimately even a Cesarean section when my labor “stalled” at 9 cms for 6 hours.
My passion to learn more about the topic and learn how to help other women/couples has only increased in the past few years and with the births of my next four children.
In 2001 and 2002 I became a doula and certified childbirth education instructor following intensive training with two nationally recognized childbirth organizations. In 2005 I teamed up with several other experienced educations to bring the BabyBodyBirth concept to women and their families.
To further my training, I added Child Passenger Safety Technician certification in 2003, and attended a Spinning Babies® seminar in 2006 to better understand how the baby's position in teh womb affects labor. I bring the techniques I have learned to pregnant moms to improve their chances of an easier birth. In 2007 I became an American Red Cross certified First Aid/CPR/AED instructor.
I have been helping moms to enjoy healthier pregnancies and births through education and hands on support for 9 years. I am a graduate of Lafayette College, and reside with my family in Allentown, PA.
