My Birth By Design, LLC, is a Homebirth Midwifery Practice, primarily providing care throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period located in East Stroudsburg, PA. Jennifer is a traditional midwife, not a nurse midwife. I offer well woman care, preconception counseling, and prenatal care in a holistic manner, following the midwives model of care. I also can offer waterbirth in your home. I am located in East Stroudsburg PA. Currently my home office is under construction so I am doing all prenatal care in the comfort of your own home for an additional small fee to cover gas/travel expenses. I do home visits in the Lehigh Valley, Bloomsburg, Scranton/Wilkes, Stroudsburg, and Dalton areas regularly.
I serve the Northeastern Region of Pennsylvania which includes the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. I have attended births in the following counties, Monroe, Carbon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Columbia, Pike, Wyoming, Northampton, Bradford, Bucks, Wayne, and Susquehanna. If you are more than an hour and a half's driving time from East Stroudsburg, there will be additional expenses to cover cost of time and travel.
I take an average of 3 clients a month, (maximum is 4, but I like to keep it to 2-3 per month). Because of this, contacting me as early in your pregnancy as possible is preferable to ensure your place on my roster. I do take on clients later in pregnancy if; I have room on my roster, you have your prenatal records or can get them, you have had a low risk pregnancy thus far, and are financially able to hire me as I do not offer discounts on late transfers. I offer a sliding fee scale depending on your income, please contact me for more information.
I am an equal opportunity provider and do not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, philosophy, or sexuality. All are welcome.
I am a direct entry midwife (DEM), attending low risk women at home and I have had my own homebirth practice since 2008. I am in the process of getting my CPM credential through the North American Registry of Midwives using their experienced midwife portfolio evaluation process. I have submitted my initial paperwork with NARM and they have notified me that they have received it.
I believe that birth is a very personal and spiritual experience, and respect the body's wisdom to do what it knows best. I happily serve women from all walks of life and in many different belief systems. I am not a licensed medical professional. There is no licensure available to non nurse midwives in Pennsylvania. Please check out the FAQ page for more information about homebirth and my background. Currently I have Erin Walker as my apprentice. I try to work with an apprentice or assistant when possible.
